Bedford real estate broker Brian Murray told the Daily Voice that he purchased the home in the hamlet of Waccabuc in the Town of Lewisboro, which is set on the 18th hole of the Waccabuc Country Club, about five years ago after it had been empty for several years.

“We literally had to remove the animals that were living inside,” he said.

The couple then worked with local architect Teo Siguenza to conceptualize their renovation plans. Once the plans were finalized, local builder BVT meticulously executed their new design, which included adding modern touches while preserving the home’s old-fashioned structural integrity.

“Our plan was to keep the 1800s core of the house and remove everything else and recreate a modern addition with a ‘modern Farmhouse’ feel,” said Murray.

Expectedly, the entire process took several years from start to finish.

“We lived through it with a 2.5-year-old and our dog Buc, like ‘Waccabuc,’ ” said Murray. “This certainly had its moments.”

Clearly, it was worth the wait — now, the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom home, located at 12 Post Office Road, is once again up for sale with an asking price of $1,250,000.

Described as an “entertainer’s dream,” the open concept home features a large family room with a fireplace and an outdoor setup with plenty of natural light. The home’s master suite has vaulted ceilings, and the Leicht Kitchen is fully equipped with Gaggenau and Miele appliances.
